Description
Poly Aluminium Chloride – 25kg | Water Treatment Coagulant
Polyaluminium Chloride (PAC), also known as aluminum chlorohydrate, is a water-soluble inorganic polymer coagulant widely used in water and wastewater treatment. It exists chemically between aluminium chloride (AlCl₃) and aluminium hydroxide (Al(OH)₃), offering superior coagulation efficiency compared to conventional aluminum salts.
PAC typically appears as a yellow or light yellow powder, though darker resinous forms may occur depending on grade. It effectively destabilizes suspended particles, allowing them to aggregate into larger flocs for easy removal by sedimentation or filtration.

Applications & Uses
Water Treatment
-
Drinking water purification
-
Municipal wastewater treatment
-
Industrial process water treatment
-
Coagulation, sedimentation, and filtration systems
Industrial Applications
-
Paper and pulp manufacturing
-
Cosmetic formulations (antiperspirants)
-
Chemical processing and specialty reactions
Mechanism of Action
Poly Aluminium Chloride acts by neutralizing the negative electrical charges of suspended particles in water. This destabilization causes particles to bind together, forming larger flocs that settle quickly or are easily filtered, improving water clarity and treatment efficiency.
Advantages
-
Effective across a wide pH range
-
Performs well in varying temperatures
-
Efficient removal of turbidity, heavy metals, and phosphorus
-
Produces less sludge than traditional coagulants
-
Faster settling and improved filtration performance
Packaging & Delivery
Poly Aluminium Chloride is supplied in secure 25kg packaging suitable for commercial and industrial use. Bidchem offers reliable delivery across Johannesburg and nationwide throughout South Africa.
Safety & Handling
-
Follow standard chemical handling procedures
-
Avoid inhalation of dust
